Props:
Roses in the following colors: Red, White, and Yellow
A Basket of trimmings from a florist, long stems with thorns

This involves two people, one male and one female. They have come to a rose garden to pick out flowers for their upcoming wedding. The male enters first with the female dragging behind, in wonder at all the various roses surrounding her.

Male: Come on Jenny, I can't stay here all day.

Female: Oh Mike, relax. Your boss won't kill you if you're a few minutes late.

Male: You don't know my boss…yet.

Female: I love to come to this rose garden. It's so beautiful this time of year. All the flowers in bloom. And the fragrance in the air. (She pulls in a long breath and spins around a la Mary Tyler Moore.) It's so wonderful.

Male: OK, OK. It is nice. But hurry up. Have you picked out anything yet?

Female: Mike, it's our wedding. I want to pick out flowers that will be symbolic. You know, I want them to mean something.

Male: Here. This is a nice color. He holds a red rose. How about red? A red rose symbolizes love and respect. At least that is what the florist said.

Female: (She takes the rose from his hand. She pauses to contemplate.) Red. It also symbolizes the blood He shed on the cross. Yes, I'll take red.

Male: Great, let's go.

Female: Wait, I'm not finished. There still too much left to see.

Male: (to the audience) I knew it wasn't going to be that easy.

Female: (She picks up the white rose and sniffs it.) White, oh yes white. We have to have some white roses, too.

Male: Yes, they will match your dress... (To the audience under his breath:)… and my knuckles, too.

Female: White shows His purity and ours after we accept Him as our Savior. Don't you agree?

Male: Yes, well I never really thought of it. C'mon. I don't have the time to talk about that now.

Female: You still have twenty minutes. Just relax, he isn't going to fire you. She walks over to the yellow rose. I think I want some of these, too.

Male: What, now? Thinking about Texas?

Female: No, I'm thinking about joy and gladness. The peace you have when you have Jesus in your heart. That's what a yellow rose represents, joy and gladness.

He starts to have a puzzled look on his face. The female walks over to the basket of trimmings. She picks up a long thorn-covered stem discarded and starts to make a circle out of it.

Male: Now, what are you doing?

Female: I want some of these too.

Male: What? Thorns? Why would you want thorns at our wedding?

Female: (The female takes him by the hand.) They made a crown of thorns out of these. They twisted and molded them until they fit His head. Then, they placed it on His head. They spit on Him and kicked Him, and beat Him. I never want to forget.

Male: (He pauses to think about what she has just said.) Jesus means a lot to you, doesn't he?

Female: Yes, yes he does.

Male: I never really knew how much until now. I always went to church with my family but it never really meant anything to me… until now. Will you tell me more about Jesus?

Female: Sure, but you have to get back to work. You know your boss.

Male: Yeah, you can tell me more as we walk back. (They start to leave. The male stops and turns around to retrieve the basket of thorns.) And you can start by telling me about these thorns again.
