evangelism
The GO Zone:The Top Ten Reasons for Evangelism by Dave Weiss (Dave's bio) Send this page to a friend 10. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. In John 14:6 Jesus says, "No man comes to the Father except through me." If Jesus is the only way to Heaven, He is the only way out of Hell. What more do you need? But evangelism is more than just celestial fire insurance, so let's go on. 9. Jesus is the key to abundant life. No, this isn't name it and claim it theology. In John 10:10 Jesus says that he "came that we have life and have it to the full." This doesn't mean two Mercedes in every Christian's driveway, but what it does mean is life with a purpose, the one that God designed for each person, the truest definition possible of an abundant life. 8. Out of gratitude. Jesus went to the cross to save you. After living the ultimate life of service, He died an agonizing death so that one day you might live with Him forever in Heaven. Don't you owe to Him to share what He did for you with someone else? In James 2:26, we are reminded that faith without works is dead. How's your faith today? 7. The Golden Rule. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (Matthew 7:12). If you were still lost, wouldn't you want someone to tell you about Jesus? 6. Out of love for others. This one kind of goes back to the last one. Jesus says to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39). If you really love your neighbor as yourself, wouldn't you share Jesus with him? 5. Out of love for God. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). If we truly loved God the way He deserves to be loved, He would be our all consuming passion and we couldn't help but share him! 4. He is your God isn't He? "I am the Lord yout God, You shall have no other Gods before me" (Exodus 20: 2a,3) Ask yourself this question, "What do you spend more time talking to people about, your favorite sports team, or your Lord; your favorite political party or your Lord; your favorite hobby or your Lord; and so on and so on?" Do other people see the importance of Jesus in your life? 3. It's a great way to change the world! "If any man is in Christ, He is a new creation the old has gone and the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Isn't that what we really need in the world today? What would the world be like if everyone was living like Jesus. We need new creations turning from sin and living Jesus' example. Change the world one life at a time by sharing Jesus. (More on this in an upcoming column.) 2. It just feels good! This may sound shallow, but think about it. The Creator of the Universe uses you as the tool to make a difference for all eternity. How cool is that? 1. Jesus said so! In Matthew 28:19, Jesus said, "Therefore Go..." Need I say more? Go!
